Oy...what a weekend!

Good morning WW Peeps! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend. Mine was...er...interesting!

I had a great Friday (had it off and so did Sam). We did some shopping and went out to eat. I did well at the buffet, ate a huge salad with tons of veggies and low fat dressing and instead of getting into the fattening entrees...I had a chicken breast w/o skin and one little sliver of polish sausage...it was enough to get me the taste of the sausage w/o the huge calories.

Then, Sat Sam and I packed up and left the house around 7am to drive out to visit Mom in the nursing home in McPherson, Ks. I love the drive, especially in the fall. The ranch lands are so beautiful...just wide open spaces, rolling hills and sky...so beautiful. Then....the car broke down.

It left Sam and I stranded on a county road. Mercifully, we were just outside of Hillsboro, KS. It's a sweet little town and we were able to get towed to the local chevy dealership. The shop closed at noon but the lobby stayed open til 4pm. It took two hours to get a rental car to come from Salina, Ks and it was 3pm before we got back on the road. My car is still there. The pulley that holds the serpentine belt came off. The car overheated and the power steering wasn't working because that belt drives all the pumps.

We had planned on getting to McPherson and picking up the cake at Walmart and being at the nursing home by 11am...didn't get there til 4pm! Got home around 7:30 that night. But...we had a great visit with mom.

Mom was so cute, she was picking at the cake frosting like a little kid. I got some cute pictures. She didn't remember me but she knew I was somone she loved (better than usual when she is hostile) and she remembered Sam's name and that he was her grandson! Isn't that wonderful! With Alzheimers you are always grateful for a memory to come through.

So, we got home safe and eventhough I was stressed (and it will no doubt be expensive) we were safe and that's what matters. Thank you Father

Sunday was great..had a wonderful time and awesome message at church and then made meatloaf for dinner (which DH forgot to put up and the dog ate half of.... (that's why I call it "Dog Gone Good Meatloaf"...

Oh yeah...and I have to buy a new coat for Sam today because somehow..his went missing at McDonalds in McPherson.

So, that's my adventure. Just had to whine a little and if you can't whine to your friends...well..ya know.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Enjoy your Halloween! Love ya,

I was going to PM you to see how your visit went...Oh honey!!!  No wonder I felt like praying for you esp on Friday morning!!!!  God knew!!!  Thank God you are safe and sound!    I am also so thankful that your visit with your mom went so well!

We painted most of the weekend.  It turns out the color we picked for the living room and hallway....looked great with the border we picked out for the kitchen....so last night we painted the kitchen...and had enough paint with some left left over...that was from the orignal we bought..didn't have to buy extra for the kitchen!!!!  Yea!!!!

I was a little naughty over the weekend.  Mom made her legendary biscuits and gravy (they came and spent Fri night with us and helped paint) and I had to have some!!!  But I had my 2 pt veggie soup for lunch so that helped!

MMMMM...going to have to make some of your soup...sounds sooooo gooood! Hey...what color did you paint the kitchen? I'm so glad that it worked out and you didn't have to get more paint..that get's expensive! It was nice of your folks to come and help you paint..that must be so nice to have extra helping hands and you got a visit out of it too. I love biscuits and gravy but I rarely make it anymore because it's so fattening. I'm going to try and experiment with soy sausage and skim milk...maybe I can whittle it down without it tasting too hideous. Sam adores b&g...me too!

Thanks for your prayers. I really appreciate it. It was pretty frustrating! I was about to scream and was pretty snappy all weekend. I kept having to appologize to Sam for being so snippy.

Poor guy...he was kind of freaking out when the car broke down. He asked "Mom...are we going to die?" I said "No sweetie...we're in Hillsboro...they have a McDonalds we'll be ok." I knew mentioning McD's would make him happy...and I was right.

God sure knew what I needed and when I needed it! There was an old Nintendo video game system in the waiting room at the dealership. We had to wait for the rental car but at least Sam got to play Mario and he was ESTATIC!!! So was I...I got to relax a little and he never once said "when are we going?" In fact, he was disappointed when the car finally arrived.

I will probably keep the rental through the weekend and then go get it. I got to thinking, if I go out during the week then I won't get any sleep. My friend Beth said she'd drive with me. This is going to be sooooooo expensive! I hate cars!

Oh..good news. Just called McPherson McD's...they DO have his coat. Will pick it up when I go out there! Yeah!!! Couldn't find one at the thrift shop and things are a bit tight bugetwise right now...with all the car repairs and bills. Thank you God!

Oh well...off to find some recipes and send some emails to folks who want to join. Two more girls from work joined and I think another one will Wed. Yeah them!

Love ya, have a good day! Colette

The paint color is called Bay Rum....  My parents said everyone should feel good in our living room!!!!    I'm going to try and post some pics on the soup bowl later.  I'll let you know when they are up.

I think WW ought to pay you for all the people you bring their way!!!!  You are going to make an awesome leader!!!!

Coe, How about freecycle.org? People offer things they don't need or use and it's all free. That is how I got my boys winter coats this year. I got some really good jeans for work that way too. I am sure there is at least one Freecycle group in KC or at least Jackson County.

Glad your trip worked out. I ended up taking Jamie to Ames, Iowa for her Talented and Gilfted Class testing. It's about 3 hours out and 3 hours back. It left us a litte short for gas until payday but we will survive.  Thank goodness for 5cent deposit on soft drink cans and bottles. I have has less than 7 hours sleep in 4 days so I am going to lay down on the couch. The lady that watches joel for me has two sick kids and didn't want joel to get sick. Joel is ok if I lay on the couch and cat nap. It just leaves me sore and not very well rested.
