EFFECTS OF RAPID WEIGHT LOSS...SLOW AND EASY DOES IT BEST!

  Effects of Rapid Weight Loss
Losing weight too rapidly can have negative effects on your health and well-being. Losing weight at a rate faster than an average of two pounds per week (after the first three weeks) can lead to:

  • An increased risk for developing gallstones
  • Dry skin and/or hair loss
  • Electrolyte (fluid) imbalances

Women who lose weight at a fast rate are also prone to menstrual irregularities.

In addition, many studies have shown that rapid weight loss is almost always followed by weight regain.

What To Do If You're Losing Too Quickly
If you are losing weight at a rate faster than an average of two pounds per week after the first three weeks on the Weight Watchers plan, we strongly advise you to:

  1. Increase your food intake to help slow your rate of weight loss.
  2. Consult with your physician or health practitioner.
