Is Aspartame Safe?

*I was glad to see this.  I have used aspartame for over 25 years (ever since I found out about my diabetes at age 11).  Thought I would pass it on.

A recent Italian study that linked the artificial sweetener aspartame to cancer sent shock waves through the international health community. However, a closer look at the study by experts from both the European Food Safety Authority and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration debunked its credibility. The experts said that a medical problem, not the sweetener, caused rats in the study to develop cancer. Both agencies pointed to new studies showing no link between the sweetener and the development of cancer or other serious health problems.

So if you need to wet your whistle with something other than water or unsweetened iced tea, go ahead and reach for drinks with aspartame. It's a good idea to moderate your intake, however, and to make sure you're getting in your eight glasses of water, too. Nothing beats water, nature's perfect zero-calorie health drink. Drink up!

A little muscle looks marvelous and works miracles for your metabolism!
