Anyone else have CD

I have been poking around here for several weeks now but just now joined.  What I want to know is does anyone else have CD and working on the WW program?   A little about me.  I joined WW about 5 years ago and within about a year I lost 40-45 lbs. My high was about 185. I never really had a weight problem until I was almost wheelchair bound due to serious feet problems.  I gained a lot of weight due to the lack of being able to walk, depression and just plain overeating.  I saw a poditrist who wrecked havic on my feet before the light bulb came on to change Drs.  It seems this same Dr. was the nightmare of a lot of us.  My new Dr. saw the problem and after 5 surgeries I regained my normal activities.  (Just can't wear any old shoe, but can live with that) It was after all this that I joined WW. About 4 years ago I had a head injury which left me not able to work because of severe head-neck pain and so being at home I started eating because of the poor me's.  Got over that PTL, that is the poor me.  Next event is I am dx with CD and start gaining a few more lbs.  Things that should be low calories are such as pretzels and now high cal.  Little small rings are 2.5 pts for 11. After putting on close to 20 lbs I could see I was headed in the wrong direction.  My daughter come home from college where she has gained about 25 lbs so we join Curves thinking I will exercise and shed the lbs.  Didn't really do much for the lbs but it gets me out of the house and if nothing else I have getting some benefit to the bones and muscles. I was the top loser last month.  YEA.  I have now gone from 156 to 148 since Jan.  I want to get back down to 135.  I keep yo yoing so I have hopes that this forum will keep me accountable.  It is so frustrating because I know what to do but just can't keep on track.  Sorry if I am too long winded.

First of all.....WELCOME!!!! We are so glad to have you here. This is great place for help in sticking with the WW program, finding support AND tons great recipes!!

Ok, sorry to sound like a moron, but what is dx and CD? I'm thinking diabetes??

Sounds like you have been down some rough roads in the past few years. I am so glad that everything worked out and you are healthier and feeling good again. I, too, am a members of Curves and it has been the best thing for me in a very long time. Curves has helped me to lose about 45 lbs since May 2005. I LOVE my Curves, hehe!

I look forward to posting with you. Maybe the other gals will know better what you are asking and can offer more help than I did. Sorry! =)

I hope you enjoy it here!!!!!

I must admit I do not know what CD is.  I take it dx is diagnosed?

I know how hard it is to manage weight with a disease though.  I have had diabetes since the age of 11 (25 years ago!  oops!!!  did I just tell my age!!!!  LOL).

I do most of my exercising at home since I do not have time to join somewhere like Curves.  I stay very busy helping my dh (who has lost 55 lbs) run our store while homeschooling our 2 dds.  But I've heard Kassidy rave about it!    She has had some GREAT results.

I think CD is Celiac Disease ... what MrsP and MrsBatman have ... although they are not on WW, so I don't know if MrsP could help or not.

dx is diagnosis and CD is Celiac Disease which means gluten is toxic to me and it destroyes the villia in your small intestines.  It is in wheat, rye, barley, oats.  I have to carefully read labels for hidden gluten.  Yes, Mrs. P and I are acquainted.

I take methadone daily for severe headaches and the side affect of it leaves me nauseated most morning. This affects how I eat.  If I have had a bad day and don't eat I am starving the next day and end up going over my points.  I try to stick with l8 points.  Any suggestions.

Look foreward to posting and getting to know you gals.

Cherished bear....Do I know you as well?  I'm DavidsChelle on the soup bowl...I think I know who you are!

Anyway....18 pts is too low.  You should never go below 20.  Your points are based on your weight.  If you need to know how many points feel free to PM me or I'm sure Coe would do it, too, and we could look it up for you in our books.

If you do not get your daily points in (On the Flex Plan), you body will go into starvation and you will not lose and could possibly gain.

I don't know a whole lot about CD (if I had used my blonde brain I would have figured it out!!!  I'm in the middle of a cram study session  so I am more blonde than usual!!!!) except what I have seen Mrs P and MrsBatman post.  I will see what I can find out!

Good luck and hope we are of some help!!!!!

Yes, I guess you could say you know me.  I am Donna.  After I put in my user name I wished I had gone by Donna,oh well.  I don't know what the Flex plan is.  I am using the information from 5 years ago, when I first joined.  For less than 150 lbs is says my point range is 18-25 so I have tried to stick with the l8 most days.  I had forgot about maybe I was not eating enough in points to not lose weight.  I will up myself to the 20 and see what happens.  Today I have been having some diverticulitis attacks so I will be lucky to eat 5 points until the pain gets better.  Could be I also was glutened, I just know I hurt.

I am on the Celiac Forum that Mrs. P is on also, so I get a lot of good info but not really in the diet area.

HI Donna! I'm so glad that your here! I dont' really have any idea about how a celiac would use the WW program except avoid processed foods. The Core program would probably be perfect for you.

On the Core program you eat less processed, more whole food...lots of fruits, veggies, lean meat, fish and chicken and not really bread. You may have oats on Core...but if you want bread then you'd need to use your extra points...we get 35 extra points per week. Core is nice because you don't count points (exc except your extra points)...just be sure to get 2 milks, 5 fruits/veggies and 2 tsp of healthy oil per day. On Core you eat until you feel satisfied (not full..but that you've had all that you need.) I lost most of my weight so far on Core and only recently switched to flex. I would think it would be the program for someone with CD.

If you like, I'd be happy to copy and send you the Core food list. Since you don't have to measure, it's pretty cool. You just can't allow yourself to eat too much.

I don't know what the program was like 5 years ago...or if the food values are the same now as they were then...but if you can get a new book, that would be the best thing.

The program changes periodically and it's hard to keep up without the points values. You might check out the library and see if they have any WW cookbooks or info where you can follow the program. If you need to know the value of something, just pm me and I'd be happy to look it up for you.

If you need anything, just let me know. We're here to help and blessings to you!

Colette (aka...Samzmom)

Coe....you are soooooo smart!!!!  You are my hero!!!!!!  I didn't even think about Core for Donna!!!  Yes, that would be a lot easier for her!  Of course it could be my fear of Core that kept me from thinking of it!!!!    LOL
