WW meeting woes!

I just need to vent and get some input from you guys!

I went to my third meeting this morning and I continue to not be that impressed with my leader or the participation of everyone at the meeting.

This is the SECOND WEEK that she has failed to mention me during Celebrations and I had to remind her..HOW EMBARASSING (but oh yes, I'm speaking up if I'm overlooked, lol)!! I don't always get there early like most others apparently do and my results don't get passed off to the leader in time, FOR SOME REASON! That just really bugged me.

The leader also talks to us like we're a bunch of idiots. Quizzing us her meeting topic, when some of us just got started and aren't sure of everything. And GOD FORBID someone forget to put on their name tag!! She's nice enough, but not someone that I feel like I could turn to for good support if I needed my leaders help.

No one has mentioned BUDDY anything! I guess I should ask, but I would be interested in buddy walking groups or just to chat with others that are going through the same thing I am (part of why I joined you guys!). I want my meetings to be GREAT, ya know! I want to get more out of them. Not just where I go to weigh-in, pay my $11, and sit for a bit.

Does all this sound normal? Am I expecting too much from my meeting? Am I whining? LOL. HELP! =)

Kassidy...you are not expecting too much! It took me a while to find the right leader for me. Does your area have more than one meeting site or multiple leaders?

I'm lucky. I go to the meetings in Independence, MO and we have several leaders that lead meetings there. It took me a few weeks to find one that I "clicked" with and I just adore her. My leader's name is Jan, and after the first class I KNEW she was the one I was looking for.

Jan lost 127 lbs on WW and she is so supportive, funny, kind, funny, wise, funny...did I mention her sense of humor?

If possible, you might change meeting times or even go to another near by town with other leaders, until you find the one that suits you best.

A good leader makes all the difference! I understand what you mean about wanting your awards and goals...I live or die by those darned little stars and bookmarks! We earn those!

I hope you can find a leader that suits you...don't suppose you live in the Kansas City area? You'd love my leader and I'd love to meet you!

Take care...Colette

No, sorry. I'm in Mississippi. You mean you didn't spot my southern charm? HA!!!

Sounds like you have a super leader. I can't even remember mine's name right now, if that tells you what an impression she left on me (Loretta, maybe?). I didn't even think about picking the meeting based on the leader. I just chose what worked best for me. Saturday mornings is it. Helps keep me good through the weekend (they are oh so hard for dieting!). I wonder how I can find out if there are other leaders without appearing to NOT LIKE the one I already have, LOL. Having someone that has lost a lot makes a big difference I bet. Our leader lost 30 lbs. two years ago and has kept it off. Good for her and all, but gimme someone who REALLY understands what I weight problem is, Ya know? (that was probably so rude of me to say!)

Just getting in the routine of WW was the first step I guess. Now maybe I need to work on getting the most out of the meetings! HEY, and what do you do with all your little stars?

Now I should have detected your southern accent! LOL! I lived in Tennessee and Kentucky for a while and I dearly love the south! I used to have family in Baton Rouge and my grandma was from Kentucky...so, I'm southern by relation anyway. But, I'm a Missouri farm girl, born and raised. We're hoping to move to Kansas in a couple of years. Chelle is from Tennessee...so now we have at least 2 southern belles on board! I have never been to Mississippi, but I'd love to! Did you all get hit by Katrina?

Anyway...a good leader is important! Like I said, if you don't feel comfortable with the one you have, maybe you can go to another meeting nearby. If you like, I can run some zip codes through the meeting finder and maybe find some other ones near you. Let me know.

I think that Chelle (and most folks) put their little stars on their 5 lb bookmark...I've always put mine in my WW booklet, next to the week's weigh in. My leader also gives stars out for exercising, drinking our water, overcoming a challenging event or week. We're like kindergardeners...WE WANT OUR STARS!!! Funny...all these grown women coveting their little sitck on stars!

I hope that you have a good week. It takes some getting used to but once you get in the groove and start losing weight, it's really fun!

Blessings...Colette

Is there a way to find out who the leaders are online?

The area of Mississippi that I live in did get some Katrina damage, but not near as they did on the coast. We had some property damage, trees down, and lost power for six days. We did feel the effects but it could've been much worse!

I think I'll do like Chelle and put my stars on my 5 lbs book mark. The weigh-in lady puts a star in my booklet at each weigh-in already...at least she doesn't forget, LOL!

Yes....from TN!!!!  I bleed orange!!!!  Go VOLS!!!!!!   But not as much as my dear hubby!!!! LOL

I proudly have my stickers on my bookmark!  And when I hit my 5 lbs mark each time...I have it pulled out ready to go when we have celebrations!!!  We have men in our group too....and let me tell you....they want their celebrations, too!!!!!

I would definitely see about a new leader.  I am very fortunate to have one of my friends as my leader.  She talked me into joining.  I must admit my first weigh-in I dreded it...but she has really been a great support!!!!  And she doesn't judge me!  If I don't lose one week, she will try to help me figure out why.  And she does this with everyone...not just me!

At our meetings, they also have the pens which have the TN number (a 1-800 one) that you can call.  Do they have those with Mississippi numbers on them?  Maybe you could call it and check about leaders.

Kassidy...I think you could probably just call the place where you attend meeting and ask how many leaders there are and when they meet. They probably won't recognize your voice. If you're concerned about it, maybe your DH could call and find out for you.

You can go to WW.com and use the meeting finder. Just punch in your town or the surrounding towns (if you don't mind driving a bit...) and see where they are. Then, you could call those numbers and find out about leaders.

A good leader makes all the difference, at least for me. Hope you find one that you can really relate to.

Colette

Hey Chelle, I put my star stickers on my 5 pound book mark, too! It's the perfect place for them. Thanks for letting me steal your idea! I put my bravo stickers on there, too, then I've earn one 5 point sticker.

I don't know about those numbers you mentioned Chelle. I might just do what Colette suggested and call. They won't know who I am, like she said. I used the WW finder when I decided to do this, so I'm familiar with it. I just really don't want to drive far to get to a meeting. Maybe there will be a another leader on a different day. I'll let yall know what I find out!

Thanks ladies!
