question about calculations

I was wondering if anyone could help me to figure out how many points for a recipe. Do I take all the ingredients [ex. 1 cup kidney beans(-2points); 1cup lean ground beef(-6 points)] and then add them up and divide them by the number of servings?   I would appreciate any help you could give me. I have a few recipes that I would like to share but I want to make sure I get the points value right first. Some of these recipes do not have a nutritional analysis to them and I want to be able to use them if the points are low enough. Thank you! Kim

Hi Kim,
Do you have access to WW online? They have a recipe builder there that helps with that. You put in all the ingredients, amounts, directions, serving size etc and if figures the points per serving for you.
If not, you can PM Coe, Chelle or me the recipe(s) and one of us could figure it out for you. I know I wouldn't mind. I know Coe and Chelle are a little busy, but they still may be able to do it also.

Hi Cassi,
Thanks for getting back to me. I do not have access to ww online. Maybe I should look into that. It sounds like it might be the easiest way to convert into points.  You are all so helpful here. I really enjoy this site! Thanks again!

Kim,
It's no problem! That's what we're all here for -- is to help and support each other in this stage of our lives!
I've only just started with WW, so I'm going to be signing up for the $39.95 a month instead of paying as I go, then you get free e-tools!
But until you do that, I'd be more than willing to run a couple of your recipes through the recipe builder for you if you'd like.

Have a great evening!

Just click on my name and then click on send Private message.
I'm getting ready to leave right now to get LilMs from school and then we're going to a movie, so I may not be able to get to it until later tonight. But as soon as I get them done, I'll PM them back to you ... ok?

Have a great afternoon ...
TTFN!

Kim....
We don't mind running them through for you.  I don't do online (it's too pricey for me after paying as much as I do already...I'm At Work which means I pay it all up front).

Anyway....what you asked is the right way to do it.  One of things I have (and love) is the point calulator.  You can get it at the meetings and it is only $5.  It works as a reg and a points calculator.  It would help you figure up the pts faster.
